Refund & Cancellation Policy

How Payments Work
When you place an order on Skillza, your payment is authorized but not immediately charged. The funds remain on hold until you approve the delivery or the 72-hour auto-validation window expires. Skillza uses Stripe Connect — funds flow directly to sellers; we collect a platform service fee only at the moment of capture.
When You Get a Full Refund
- ✓Seller fails to deliver before the agreed deadline
- ✓Order is cancelled before the seller has started work
- ✓Seller agrees to cancel the order
- ✓Order is mutually cancelled within 24h of placement
- ✓Dispute resolved in buyer's favour by Skillza admin
Refunds are issued within 5–10 business days depending on your bank or card issuer.
Partial Refunds
Partial refunds may be issued at Skillza's discretion when:
- Work was partially completed and the buyer cancels mid-order
- A dispute is resolved in favour of neither party
- Work was delivered but did not meet agreed requirements — as determined by our review team
Non-Refundable Situations
- Order marked as Completed by the buyer (payment is released to seller)
- 72-hour auto-validation triggered after delivery with no buyer action
- Services fully rendered as described in the gig
- Buyer changed requirements after work began without seller agreement
How to Open a Dispute
- Go to your order page at /orders/[order-id]
- Click the Dispute button and describe the issue clearly
- Payment is frozen immediately — no funds move while dispute is open
- Skillza reviews the case within 5 business days
- We contact both parties and issue a decision — capture or full refund
